Summary

The Historia Medica app does not collect, transmit, sell or share any of your data. Your medical records stay on your devices, in a file you control. We — the makers of Historia Medica — never see them.

If you buy a license, we receive only what's needed to send and support it: your name, email address, country and order details. We never sell or share them, and we email you about offers only if you ask us to. Details are in When you buy a license.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter in Historia Medica — patients, visits, medications, test results, vitals, notes, photos and attached files — is stored only on your Mac:

The data is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. There is no account to create and no server that holds your records.

What we collect

The app collects nothing. Historia Medica contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, tracking or telemetry of any kind, and makes no network requests to us or to third parties.

The license check is offline too: the app checks your license key's digital signature on your Mac, and counts the free trial from a date stored on your Mac. It never contacts a server to activate or verify a license.

When you buy a license

Purchases are handled by Paddle.com, our online reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment, calculates tax and sends your receipt under its own privacy policy. We never see your card or bank details.

What we receive from Paddle: your name (if you give one), email address, country, the product, price, currency and order number, and whether you agreed to receive news and offers from us.

What we use it for:

Legal basis (EU/UK): performing our contract with you (license delivery and support), our legal obligations (tax records), our legitimate interest in preventing fraud, and your consent for marketing emails.

Who else handles it: Paddle (payment and tax); our web host Hostinger, which runs the small service that issues license keys; and our email provider Titan, which sends the license emails. They process it only on our behalf. We may also disclose it to professional advisers or when the law requires. We never sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.

Where it is kept: our service providers may store and process it outside your country, including in the United States. Where EU or UK law applies, these transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

How long: license records (license ID, name, email, country, order details) are kept for as long as your license may be used, so we can resend your key and support you, and for as long as tax law requires. Marketing consent is removed as soon as you opt out.

The website

historiamedica.app uses no cookies and no third-party analytics or trackers. Our web host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, page requested and browser type) for security and troubleshooting, for a limited period.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (your license records), to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it for marketing. If you live in the EU, the UK or a US state with a privacy law, such as California, you have these rights by law. We will reply within one month. If we delete your license records, we can no longer resend your key.

To exercise your rights, write to privacy@historiamedica.app. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Permissions the app may ask for

macOS asks for your permission before Historia Medica can use these features. Each one works entirely on your Mac:

PermissionUsed forWhat happens to the data
Microphone and Speech RecognitionVoice dictation into form fields, only when you click the microphone buttonSpeech is recognized on your Mac by Apple's on-device speech recognition. Historia Medica requires on-device recognition; if your Mac cannot recognize your language on-device, dictation is turned off rather than sent to a server. Audio is not stored.
Local NetworkThe macOS print panel looking for printers when you printOnly printer discovery. Your records are sent only to the printer you choose.
Files you selectImporting a MyMedical file, opening or saving a backup, attaching documentsOnly the files and folders you choose are read or written.

You can change these permissions at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Importing from MyMedical

When you import data from the MyMedical app, Historia Medica reads the file you select on your Mac and copies its contents into your Historia Medica database. The original file is not modified and nothing is transmitted.

Sharing your records

Your records leave your Mac only when you choose to move them — for example by printing a summary, saving a backup to an external drive or cloud folder of your choice, or exporting a patient's records. Where those copies go, and who can read them, is under your control and subject to the policies of whatever storage or service you choose.

Security

Your records are protected by your Mac's own security: your user account password and, if enabled, FileVault disk encryption. We recommend turning on FileVault (System Settings → Privacy & Security → FileVault) and keeping backups in a secure place.

Children

Historia Medica can be used by parents and guardians to keep records for their children. Because the app collects no data at all, no information about children is collected by us. Licenses are sold only to adults.

Health information and HIPAA

Historia Medica is a personal record-keeping tool. We are not a health care provider, health plan or business associate, and we do not receive your health information, so we are not a "covered entity" under HIPAA. Historia Medica does not provide medical advice; always consult your physician.

Future features

Future versions may add features such as syncing between your own devices. If a feature ever involves sending data off your device, it will be optional, clearly explained before you turn it on, and this policy will be updated first.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at https://historiamedica.app/privacy with a new effective date, and summarized in the app's release notes.
